Is SkinPen Microneedling right for me?
SkinPen is designed to help anyone looking for improved tone and texture on the face and neck area for most skin types. It is meant to provide your skin the reset it needs to help activate your body’s natural healing response. Our team of Nurse Practitioners will be best able to determine if SkinPen Microneedling is the right tool for your skin during your complimentary consultation. Together you will develop a treatment plan to ensure you see lasting and continued results.
How does SkinPen work?
The SkinPen treatment works in three simple steps. It is designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process. Following each session, the skin begins to heal itself, looking more renewed and rejuvenated over time. SkinPen is only used in professional settings and delivers dramatic results without the use of heat or chemicals.
Step One:
Inflammation- SkinPen’s microneedles penetrate the skin’s surface, triggering a natural immune response to disinfect, remove buildup, increase blood flow, and activate the creation of new tissue and collagen.
Step Two:
Proliferation- Micro-channels or tiny holes created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Step Three:
Remodeling- New dermal tissues form rich in collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin quality, visibly reducing facial acne scars and neck wrinkles, leaving skin more smooth, radiant, and younger-looking.
What can I expect post treatment?
SkinPen Microneedling does involve downtime. We recommend scheduling your service during a time where you can plan to be mostly indoors for 2 to 3 days post treatment to recover and stay away from the sun. During this time you may experience some redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding and general tenderness.
How many sessions do I need?
On average, 3 SkinPen sessions are required to achieve optimal results. Together, you and your Nurse Practitioner will determine what is right for your skin.
How much does it cost?
One session for the face area is $450. A package of 3 sessions is $1200 with the option to add the neck for an additional $125 individually and $100 per treatment with the package of 3.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
Always start with a free consultation! Once you’ve determined that SkinPen is the right choice for you will be asked to do the following:
- Discontinue the use of any active ingredients such as Retinols, AHAs, Glycolics or any other acids or prescription topicals 3 days prior to your appointment
- Numb the desired treatment area 1 hour before your scheduled appointment time using a Lidocaine of at least 5% or higher so long as you are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Arrive at the office with a clean dry face and a hat for post treatment protection
What are the post care instructions
- Do Not wash the area or apply any other product other than the gel that has been sent home with you for the first 48 hours.
- You may put the Skinfuse Gel in the refrigerator for extra cooling and soothing post treatment. Use this gel as necessary.
- In that timeframe you will avoid sun exposure, strenuous exercise, hot tubs and touching the area.
- Change your pillowcase following your treatment
- Bruising, pinpoint bleeding, redness, swelling, peeling and purging are all normal. Avoid picking.
- You may resume SPF on day three post procedure and resume your normal skincare routine

As a dark skin woman (Skin Type VI), I am ecstatic about the results!!! I started with one area (March 2014) and have gradually had other areas treated because of the phenomenal results. I was skeptical and afraid of pursuing laser hair removal based on stories and pictures that I saw online of laser treatments gone wrong on black skin. I must say, I have had no issues at Lapiel. No burns, no dark marks, no keloid scars. If anything, the laser treatments have helped to lighten the areas where I had hyperpigmentation due to plucking and shaving. This secondary benefit of the laser on dark skin is great in helping the skin achieve a more even skin tone in the affected area(s).
