How LATISSE® Works

LATISSE® eyelash serum is a medication called bimatoprost which is marketed as a serum for glaucoma under the brand name Lumigan and as a serum for hypotrichosis (inadequate eyelash growth) under the LATISSE® brand. It’s believed to work by extending the anagen or active growth phase of eyelashes, encouraging healthier, stronger growth. The nightly serum calls for placing a drop of LATISSE® at the base of the lashes along the upper eyelid via a disposable sterile applicator. After blotting away any excess and disposing of the applicator, the process is repeated on the other eye. After 16 weeks, most see noticeably thicker and longer lashes, which will remain as long at LATISSE® serum is continued.
