Clinical Skin Care
How to prepare:
- Be sure to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to ensure you receive your full treatment time.
- If you are coming in for Microdermabrasion, a Chemical Peel, or our Signature Facial please discontinue the use of Retin-A or Retinols 48 hours prior to your visit. Inform your provider if you have taken Acutane in the past 6 months.
- Avoid scheduling facial laser treatments the same day as any clinical skin care treatment.
- Should you arrive more than 10 minutes late for your scheduled appointment we do reserve the right to reschedule or modify your treatment.
Post Treatment Care:
- The use of sunscreen (an SPF of 30 or higher) is highly recommended for at least a week post clinical skin care.
- Refrain from using Retin-A, Retinols, or products containing glycolic acid for at least three days after any Chemical peel, SilkPeel Microdermabrasion, or Lapiel Signature Facial.
- Every Chemical peel will cause some degree of flaking or peeling with varying amounts of redness post procedure. The degree and duration of flaking, peeling and redness depend on the strength of the acid. The peeling process usually starts on day three and appears very similar to dry skin and can last 7-14 days. We recommend a heavy moisturizer and an SPF of at least 30 for daytime. Wait a minimum of 6 hours before exposing the area to water of any kind. DO NOT rub or scratch the treated areas. DO NOT pull your skin to facilitate the peeling. DO NOT use a scrub or other exfoliant.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation
How to prepare:
- Avoid makeup application or wash your face upon arrival.
- Avoid sun exposure prior to treatment. If you have tanned artificially or naturally before your treatment please inform us when you book your appointment.
- Please inform your practitioner during your consultation and before your treatment if you have a history of cold sores.
- If you are using any form of Retinol, such as Retin-A or Retriderm®, discontinue use at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.
Post Treatment Care:
- Strictly avoid the sun for ten to fourteen days after your treatment. We highly recommend consistently applying a topical sun block with an SPF of 30 or higher.
- Expect redness and swelling. In some rare instances bruising may occur. This may take seven to fourteen days to resolve.
- You may apply aloe vera gel to the affected area as needed.
- Superficial scabbing can develop on the treated area. Do not touch the area. You may apply hydrocortisone, Eucerin cream, or a heavy moisturizer twice a day.
- Any discomfort can be treated with ibuprofen, Tylenol®, or ice.
- Expect a gradual improvement in sunspots and hyperpigmentation over four weeks after treatment.
- Now that you’ve taken steps to reduce the sun damage to your skin, we recommend that you continue to wear SPF-30 on exposed skin whenever you plan to be in the sun. Make wearing sun block on your face and neck a habit to reduce future sun damage to exposed skin.
- Do not hesitate to contact us at 773-248-4247 or [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
